The Metter High Boys’ Track Team placed 11th out of 83 Class A Public Schools at the GHSA Track and Field State Championships this past weekend. The Tigers were only a quarter point out of a Top Ten finish.
All seven members of the Metter High Lady Tigers track team earned medals in the top eight this past weekend at the GHSA State Track and Field Championships. In the process they placed seventh out of 83 Class A Georgia Public Schools.
On Thursday, May 6, Susanna Hooks Sayer (r) and her partner Claiborne Christian Porubsky (l) won the Ladies Doubles Tennis Championship for the Augusta area, the CSRA. Susanna and Claiborne were representing the Augusta Country Club in the championship.
The clubs have not been sitting idle for members of the Metter High Tiger golf teams, which will be heading to the State Golf Meet on May 17-18 at the Nationals Course at Lake Oconee.
Metter native Haley Thompson of Truett McConnell University competed at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship on April 22-23 at Columbia International University in Columbia, S.C.

Georgia Golf Hall of Fame member Sonny Skinner won the 15th annual Dan J. Parrish Senior Golf Classic this past Monday and Tuesday, April 5 and 6, at Willow Lake Golf Club.
The Metter Tigers will have their last regular season home game on Tuesday, April 20, and will host rival ECI Bulldogs. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in the Jungle. Prior to the game, the team will honor the seniors from this year’s squad, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Metter Tiger Tennis is headed to the first round of the GHSA State Tennis tournament after competing in Region 3-A play. The Tiger boys’ team came away with the second place trophy after matches in Claxton on April 1, 2021.

On Tuesday, March 16, Metter lost out against Claxton 2-1 in a battle of the Tigers played at home and then lost again on Wednesday, 6-1, to South Effingham during an away game.

The varsity Eagles of David Emanuel Academy split a doubleheader with Covenant Academy on March 5 in Stillmore. The Eagles lost Game 1, 3-9, but rebounded to claim a 5-4 victory in Game 2.
On Saturday, Feb. 27, Metter High senior Angel Jarvis took part in the Farm Daze Ultra, which was held on a 350-acre family farm in Brooklet. The race course was a 3.1 mile loop. There were three races: 6 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour.
